June 2nd and 9th Update

June 2nd, 2014

Hola!
We had an awesome week this week, and the church was super full this Sunday. We were worried about getting all of our investigators to come to church, but a member that has a car helped us pick them up which saved us from walking really far and we wouldn't have had time to pass by everybody.

We fasted this week, and to break the fast we ate so much arroz chaufa with chicharron de pollo which is one of my favorites.. We also ate cuy twice this week, and I really really like it! I'm becoming more Peruvian it doesn't even bother me knowing that I'm eating Guinea Pig…

This saturday we have a baptism that will be in the river so I'm pretty excited about that it should be pretty cool! Transfers are this week, and I really don't think I'll be leaving, and I really hope not because I love this area. We have so many baptisms coming up this month which we're really excited about.

This morning we had a zone conference that talked about how our first priority is where we stand personally with God, and if we are worthy. I know that God uses us as instruments in his hands when we are willing and worthy, but one without the other we can't do a whole lot.

Everything is great here in Chupaca, and I can't believe we're already in June! I hope everybody is enjoying their summer! I love and miss you all tons!

This week was so awesome and filled with good experiences! We visited Katia and Giovana this week, who we have been teaching for a long time. They have been progressing little by little which is why we haven't given up on them and we're trying to be patient. We had a really spiritual lesson with them, and even though at the beginning I had no idea what we were going to say, as soon as we started talking the spirit was so strong in the room that I ended up crying in the lesson for the first time in my whole mission. It was such a powerful experience. Almost everybody in the room cried at one point, down to the little kids.... haha!

We had 7 investigators come to church yesterday which was awesome, and two of them will be getting baptized this saturday so we're pretty excited about that. Also, we tried a new form of teaching this week, and taught the restoration with matches and candles, which ended up going really well! It reminded me a lot of you mom and how you would teach Preschool with really cool and creative examples and visuals.

This week was did some service, and went out to the Chacra and helped some members cut a bunch of alfalfa for their cuys, and we ended up having to carry a big load of alfalfa on our backs for a couple miles and we raced a donkey and won which was pretty awesome! haha!

Something I was studying this week, was how we can be instruments in the hands of the Lord, and found a cool scpriture in Alma 17:9-11 which talks about how through being good examples, and by what we do, we can be instruments in the hands of the Lord if we are willing and if we are worthy.  Just like I said last week!

I love and miss you guys a ton, and hope you had fun in Hawaii this week!
